| TOWN HALL MEETING:
HELD august 18, 2007 Saturday, 12 Noon
1. COURSE NAMES: We've been kicking around an idea to re-name the East and West Courses as many past and present customers can't remember which is which, one of our frequent and long time loyal customers made a suggestion of calling the East course the
"River Course" and the West course the "University Course."
Action: We have added the question to our on-line "Survey" questions to reflect the
vote to have the name change, or not. Once the survey is complete, we
will let you know what the results are.
Results: 75% in favor of name change
2. Greens project: What we will do for our customers when the West closes for renovation.
Action: We are still waiting on project start dates and will advertise those
ASAP once we have them. We will post participating courses and
their discounts for Cypress Tree members and Active Duty
personnel during the construction phase.
3. Course improvements:
Action: Bunkers on East course are underway, one bunker per month until all
are finished. West Course tee boxes will be added during
construction phase to lend more assistance to seniors and
beginners (Silver and Green tees). Cart paths on West course will
be continuing our program to repair (#18 next, followed by #9).
4. Website ideas:
Action: Survey replies not getting to Manager- Website company is working
this issue.
Action: Tournaments/Events not easily seen-website company is re-
designing this feature to make it more visible and easier to navigate.
Status: COMPLETE
5. Clubhouse improvements:
Action: Bathrooms on East course #17. Base Civil Engineers have been reminded and
priority has been raised to get the work completed.
6. Open Forum:
Question: Can a Cart Membership be offered?
Answer: Management has looked into the idea but at this time does not feel the
offering of a Cart Membership would be in the best interest of the entire
membership/customer base.
Question: Can a Range Membership be offered?
Answer: We are looking into the logistics to make this happen. We have requested
funding for an upgrade to our range machine to allow for various payment methods,
thus allowing the membership option. As soon as the funding is approved we will
provide an update.
Question: Can you offer members a pro-shop discount?
Answer: Not at this time. Courses that offer a discount raise their prices to off-set
the discount. We would rather keep prices low for everyone all the time
as is consistent with our Air Force mission, rather than raise the prices
and make non-AGF players pay much more to subsidize the discount of
of the
Question: Can you post the schedule of the golf course maintenance on the event
calendar and within the pro-shop & locker rooms.
Answer: Yes, it is posted on the website in the Superindent section and now also on
the event calendar. We have also posted a copy on the pro-shop bulletin
board and in the mens/ladies locker rooms.
Question: What is the plan for the East Course in the event of flooding during the
renovation?
Answer: If the East course floods for an extended period of time the Services Division
will look into options to ensure customers are being fairly treated.
Question: Can Cypress Tree offer unlimited range balls for members?
Answer: At this time we cannot due to the lack of tracking ability that our exisiting ball
machine has. We are in the process of requesting funds for an upgrade that
will allow for such a service, however, there will be an additional charge for
this "Range Membership" or we may offer a memberhip package with it
included in the price of the membership.
Question: Will the members get any discount during the renovation of the West course
Greens project that is estimated to be from Feb 08 through Sep 08?
Answer: There will be no reduction in the membership fee during this time for several
reasons, 1) The East course can easily accomodate the number of rounds we
have during any given season, 2) We will start players on #1 and #7 during
peak periods to eliminate any bottlenecks, 3) Members will experience a
tremendous improvement when the course re-opens as an off-set to the
inconvenience during renovation., and 4) If we reduced rates during the
renovation, we would have to raise rates significantly to offset the losses
upon the West course re-opening. At this time we feel it is in the best interest
of our customers to avoid that scenario. We are working on a list of local
facilities that will offer discounted rates in the event that our course is full at
any given time during the renovation. We do not anticipate that will happen
very often but we do realize that wait times will likely increase slightly during
this relatively short period. We do appreciate our members patience during
the renovation period in order to allow us to make the facility a much
improved place to play golf. We are certain you will be impressed.
Question: Are there some local courses which use the mini-verde turf that will be used
on the new West course greens?
Answer: Yes, the closest is Farm Links (Sylacauga, AL), others include Inverness
(Birmingham, AL), Colonial CC (Madison, MS), CC of Birmingham, The
Quarry (Chattanooga, TN), Red Stone Arsenal (3 greens), TPC Sawgrass
(Pointe Verde Beach, FL), TPC of Louisiana, Bear Lakes CC (West Palm
Beach, FL), Bear Creek (Dallas, TX), Tucson National, Grayhawk-Raptor
(Scottsdale, AZ), Fountain of the Sun (Mesa, AZ) and many others
throughout the Southeast too many to mention.
Question: Numerous holes on the East, can they be fixed?
Answer: Yes, the ones that aren't part of the irrigation system can be. However, many
of those holes are junction boxes, irrigation heads, etc. that cannot be covered
until we upgrade our irrigation system sometime in the future. We have
instructed the maintenance crew to re-check the holes and fill the ones that
aren't part of the irrigation system.
Question: What is the timeframe for the West Course renovation?
Answer: We anticipate that contruction will start January. We expect that the grow-in
period will last from mid-summer through September depending on weather and
delays related to the contractor. As you are likely aware, it is difficult at best to
predict a date certain regarding construction projects. We will be doing our best to
ensure the contractor stays on track and on time.
Question: Restrooms are in need of repair, is there a plan to fix them.
Answer: Yes, the Cypress Tree has been trying to acquire funding to replace these units,
however, in the meantime, we have been calling in workorders to the Base
Maintenance Division to get them fixed. Since they have not been given the
attention requested, our Services leadership has elevated the problem at their
level to get them fixed.
Question: We noticed there are different yardage markers in the fairways, when will they be
complete.
Answer: They are now complete. We had to replace them due to the old markers are no
longer are available.
Question: How are the marshals empowered to enforce the rules of the golf course?
Answer: They are empowered to inform customers whenever they are breaking a rule and
request that they remedy the situation. If they do not comply on the second
request, then management is to be informed to handle the situation.
