UNIVERSITY Course Greens Renovation

UPDATE:
CONSTRUCTION FUNDING APPROVED FOR SPRING 2008!!!
The UNIVERSITY Course Greens renovation will consist of the following:
Complete Reconstruction of the following Greens

          --   # 9    Green

          --   # 15  Green

          --   # 18  Green
          --   Putting Green

Complete reconstruction involves designing an entirely new greens complex, including the surrounds, re-sizing and reshaping of the putting surface, and bunkering.

  • The remaining Greens will be "shelled" to inlcude complete "bunker reconstruction"

"Shelling" basically means to rebuild the putting surface to USGA specs by removing 18 inches of soil, putting in proper drainage, and building the green to USGA specs.

All greenside bunkers will be completely reconstructed, including installing a liner to eliminate rocks from surfacing, installation of drainage to avoid puddling, and reshaping of the bunkers.

  • Golfers will see a lower maintenance and a faster type of grass on the putting surfaces, "Tif-Dwarf".   Tif-Dwarf will provide the course with extremely durable and faster-rolling putting surfaces.  The same type of grass that we presently have on #5 & 11 on the West Course and 3,8,9,10,16 on the River Course.
